Hunger and waste, a global paradox
Eight hundred million people worldwide do not have access to enough food, while 1.3 billion tons of food every year end up straight in the trash. Now in production, the documentary What are you eating today? (working title), directed by Maite Carpio , takes us on a journey from Italy to Chad to investigate and tell the story of an ever-growing phenomenon: hunger and waste are two sides of the same coin, the two extremes of a global paradox. We are confronted with a breakdown in the food system: what is the impact of food waste in Italy today? In the year in which the Expo focuses on the theme of food, is it possible to imagine a sustainable future for the nutrition of the planet?
